Anyone can send us work, and we especially want to hear from students and people researching on their own. No institution, no affiliation, no fee. 49 papers have gone up this way.
What we accept
Poster
One page, mostly visual. Good for work that is still early or exploratory.
Short paper
Up to 5 pages before references and appendices. Best for a single focused experiment or analysis.
Long paper
Up to 50 pages before references and appendices. For a full project with methodology and results written out.
Review
A critical read of one or more existing papers. Put the work in context, say what it does well and where it falls down, and give your own view.
Research
Your own idea or experiment. It does not need to beat the state of the art. We care about whether the question was worth asking and whether you were careful.
Before you send it
- Send a PDF. Portrait or landscape, either is fine.
- It needs at minimum a title, every author's name, and a methods or results section. A discussion section makes it much stronger.
- Pick more than one category in the form if the work spans several areas.
- A student reviewer reads it and replies by email either way, which usually takes a week or two and longer around exams.
- If you want a harder self-check first, the NeurIPS paper checklist is a good one to read against. Optional.
- We are not formal peer review and we say so on the about page. Know what you are getting before you submit.
What reviewers look for
